The Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center (MCLETC) in Decatur, Illinois, is a state-certified academy offering Basic Law Enforcement and Basic Corrections training. Opened in 2017 with support from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the MCLETC emphasizes public service, respect, integrity, discipline, and excellence. It provides comprehensive training through education and practical application to prepare recruits for careers in law enforcement and corrections. We trust our candidates to be fully prepared after completing the MCLETC training program.
ACADEMY OVERVIEW
- Full-time (Monday -Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- 16 week training course on campus
- Full pay and benefits during the duration of academy
- Equipment and uniforms are covered by the Department
- Tuition covers cost of housing and meals
- Tuition is paid for by Springfield Police Department
